Sarah Cleary, a current resident – who is making creatures by dissolving chalk with vinegar – needed more chalk. Fiona suggested a visit to the local chalk quarry. Like a High House school trip.
The quarry exists to supply the building trade with flint for buildings in the local area and for chalk which makes a good sub-base for roads. It compacts well.
We brought some big chunks back to the studio.
