Autumn on the veg plot

As the days shorten, the weeds slow, and the colours dazzle, it’s time to take stock in the vegetable garden.

Thank you to recent residents Trica and Johann for their careful weeding, heavy clearing and tying in!

Whilst some areas will remain productive through the winter with sprouts, kale, broccoli and chard, other areas can be tidied, reconsidered and mulched in readiness for growth in Spring.

Heavy barrowing of compost, leafmould, and well rotted horse manure keeps bodies warm and allows us to wonder at the life supported by the heaps!
